Overview

The SoMat CAN Vehicle Bus Module (EVBM-CAN) conditions CAN vehicle network parameters to be synchronously measured by eDAQ and eDAQ-lite systems.

Up to 254-channels can be conditioned per VBM Module. It can be used as a passive eavesdropper on the controller network, or when needed, become an active participant making requests for specific information. A simple ‘logical masking’ scheme is utilized to identify required frames in an easily managed textual database which identifies where a unique message lay within the frame. By using these methods, not only is it a very short learning curve to master, but it is easily manipulated using tools such as Microsoft Excel® where PGN’s (Parameter Group Numbers), PID’s (Parameter Identifiers) or even direct address information can be added or modified.

NOTES:

Connection to both the SWC pin and the CAN pins is allowed (but of course, only one source can be used at any given time).

The +12V REF voltage must always be provided for the SWC. For CAN VBMs connected to the COM board only, the Red wire can be used for powering transducers (configurable by the user in the range of 3 to 24 volts).
